William James

"The life of faith devoid of love is like sunlight devoid of warmth, as is the case in wintertime when nothing grows and every single thing is inactive and dies off.  But faith deriving from love is like the sunlight in springtime when everything grows and blossoms, for it is the warmth of the sun that brings it out."  Emanuel Swedenborg  A.C. 34:1

Be on "Stand by"

To make things easier and have something for the children every Sunday Rachel and Sierra Grossman will continue caring for the children.  As we usually have only a few kids we really don't need to have extra.  So, when you sign up to lead you are signing up to be on Stand by.  Sarah  Hoffman's  main role is coordinating or scheduling adults to be on Stand by for those Sundays when a bunch of kids happen to show up.  To be on Stand by write Sarah at sarah_hoffman25@hotmail.com.  However, if you really are fine with leading 1 or 2,  1-3 year olds and don't want to attend  the service your gift of teaching is welcome.

We will  try this approach for a few months and then reassess.

Many thanks to Sarah for all the work she has already put in!

"It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power"

CALLING  ALL  POETS!

Inspired by Eric's "The Universe Says YES" poetry reading at Easter, Stephanie Peterson would like to compile other original, uplifting, inspiring poems written by people within our spiritual community into some kind of publication.

"The idea is not fully fleshed out, but I wanted to act from inspiration on this one and trust that the project will unfold without pushing for all the details up front," explains Stephanie.

Who knows what's possible when the spark of the Divine is your foundation? Does your poem make you feel good?  Does it open you up to new adventures, ways of seeing things, and love unbounded? If the answer is Yes! you're in.

Haven't written your poem yet? Then here's your inspirational call to action. Spill those words onto a page! And send them to me at s_peterson@comcast.net.  Can't wait to hear from you!

secrets of heaven

"The church of the Lord is not here or there, but everywhere. It is within those placess where the church is, as well as places outside of the church, wherever people's lives are formed according to the principles of charity. So it is that the church of the Lord is spread through the whole earth and yet that it is one; for when life constitutes the church, and not doctrine separate from life, then the church is one. The church of the Lord is everywhere in the world...." Arcana Coelestia 8152 & 10,765 Emanuel Swedenborg."

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. - Proverbs 3:5,6

"What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others." Pericles
HEALTH  WATCH

Relaxation is healthy.  Here is oen of the meditations used during our weekly Vipasana sesson after church, led by Tom Johnston and Fanny Simenc.

Metta Meditation or Loving compassion allows you to feel connected to your self and the universe.

1. Extend love and compassion to yourself by saying:  "May I be happy, may I be at peace, may I be healthy, may I be fulfilled, may I live in harmony with every _____ in my life" add specific words and thoughts of loving kindness.

2. Extend love and compassion to someone who is important to you by saying: "May they be happy, may they be at peace, may they be  healthy, may they be fulfilled, may they live in harmony."

3. Extend your love and compassion to someone who has been difficult now or in the past to you by saying:" May they be happy, may they be at peace, may they be healthy, may they be fulfilled, may they live in harmony."

4. Extend your love and compassion to all beings by saying:  "May all beings be happy, may all beings be at peace, may all beings be healthy, may all beings be fulfilled, may all beings live in harmony."
